The publication reflects the many interests and roles of its readers through short, photo-illustrated profiles of rural women doing interesting things, be it having a special hobby or avocation, running a rural-based business, or engaging in a special volunteer activity. Every issue features a large food section filled with mouth-watering recipes for today’s country cooks. The heart of the food section is the recipe contest, with the winning recipes printed on recipe cards. There are also ideas for easy country decorating, casual entertaining, crafts, gardening, fiction, puzzles and nostalgic photos and reader remembrances. The publication also includes informative articles on health and lifestyles with country women in mind. It includes a reader-written “Everyday Miracles” section and advice column. Reading this interesting and heart-warming and magazine has been described as being like “sitting down for a cup of coffee with a good friend.” Guidelines

Written By
PAY: $500 - $3000
The magazine of the Writers Guild of America, West, serving its 10,000 members with stories that celebrate Hollywood’s storytellers. We are interested in stories that profile established, working film and television writers and the stories they craft with such art and intelligence that they influence America and the world. We are an insider’s magazine for our insider readers. We are not interested in stories about directors, actors, cinematographers, etc. We want bite, bias, solid reasoning, unknown but relevant facts, and good writing. We address our readers as intelligent, sophisticated, and curious people. Each month we reach about 34,000 people–highly educated professional men and women between the ages of 35 and 54. We assign approximately 75 percent of the stories each month to freelance writers within the entertainment industry, either as a film/television writer or a journalist covering film/television writers for the major-market newspapers. Staff writes the remainder. We hire experienced writers because they know the industry, the craft, and our audience.

Trazzler
PAY: varies
Trazzler helps would-be travelers answer the question “Where should I go?” Trazzlers meander through a world of trips—hand-picked, concise, compellingly written slices of life that pull the reader into a real experience: a hotel stay, walk, adventure, spa, restaurant, ice cream stand, pony ride... really anywhere that travel can take you. And that’s where you come in. Each Trazzler trip is dominated by a photo that sets the scene so that your writing can tell the rest of the story. Our travel-writing philosophy is different from anything else out there, so be sure to study our writing guide and ramble through our editor's favorites before creating your first trips. Extra points if you nail our signature style, don’t require a lot of editing, find an area or special angle that we would have to be crazy not to cover, or, best of all, make us forget about our mundane lives and take us to a place that we’ve never been before. I’m sure we
don’t have to tell you this, but no shilling, plagiarizing, or writing about places you’ve never been, okay?
